Smartphones can be unlocked using passwords, patterns, face locks, or fingerprints, but there’s news for Apple users: in the future, they may be able to unlock their devices using their heartbeat.
Now Apple Users Can Unlock Their Devices with Heartbeats
According to India Today, Apple Watch already features an Electrocardiogram (ECG) function that monitors heartbeats.
Similarly, Apple’s upcoming ‘Heart Lock Feature’ might allow users to unlock their devices by wearing an Apple Watch that detects their heartbeat.
A similar feature could be introduced in iPhones, which would accurately monitor the user’s heartbeat.
According to a report by Apple Insider
this technology would monitor users’ unique heart rhythms, allowing devices to authenticate securely and quickly.
The purpose of this feature is to utilize each person’s unique heart rhythm for biometric identification of the device.
This feature is already available in the Apple Watch, where ECG sensors monitor the heartbeat.
The Apple Watch monitors heartbeats in two steps: first, by the sensor on the back of the watch touching the wrist, and second, by the user placing their index finger on the digital crown to monitor their heartbeat.
With this feature, users wearing an Apple Watch could also unlock other Apple products like iPhones and MacBook.
Additionally, there is speculation that Apple might introduce a feature that allows the iPhone to monitor the heartbeat without an Apple Watch.
With this feature, users would only need to hold their iPhone, which would then monitor their heartbeat.
